Established since 1928, Salvinia minima (common salvinia) continues
to expand in distribution to include new states and drainage basins.

First reported as introduced to the United States in 1928 (St. Johns River, Florida) Salvinia minima has amplified significantly, affecting 86 drainage basins in eight states. Its most northern U.S. extent reaches the Bayou Meto drainage of Arkansas, where persisting populations were first noted in the late 1990s.
