Shaped like small lemons, sporocarps are attached in tightly arranged spirals along the main axis of the submersed leaves.  Like S. molesta, S. minima is probably reproductively sterile.

Adult leaves broaden and elongate before folding upright along the midrib.  Both S. molesta and S. minima fold upright in crowded conditions.
