Giant Salvinia - Salvinia molesta

Floating leaves on both juvenile and adult plants are oblong shaped. The horizontal stem (rhizome) can be somewhat zigzagged.

The oblong, floating leaves are covered with tiny papillae that are very different than the papillae found on S. molesta and S. minima. Click here to view these distinct hair-like structures magnified.
